I am converting 69 c10 to a disc brakes from 72 c10. What is a difference between inner and outer tie rods? The way I see is that a mounting holes on the spindle and draglink are different size. Are the lenght the same or not? Can someone please post a pic of 71 or 72 c10 drag link and tie rods. I dont want to take front end a part untill I get all the parts. Thanks

1st thing to do, is to take a picture of the setup you have now. That drag link can be installed backwards & you not know it until you go to make turns. You will have to change the outer tie rods to fit the 71/72 spindles, as they are bigger than the 67/70 ones. Look in the FAQ on here. These are many, many write ups on this conversion giving info that you will need.

Yes, I did a search on this. Here is my problem. All parts are for 71-72. I have 2 sets of outer tie rods but the inners wont fit. One set is too loose and the other too long. I just ordered a new set of tie rods for 72. Hopefully it will fix it.

The earlier model drag link (67-70) and the 71/72 drag link are very similar in looks except the tapered hole for the inner tie rods is different between the earlier years a (67-70) opposed to the 71-72. The hole for the pitman arms are the same for 67-72. Your best bet (I just completed this conversion on my 69') is to get new inner/outer tie rods and sleeves for the 71-72 and get a 71-72 drag link. (Board Member: thelonerife, a.k.a. Chuck should still have one for sale)

This way, all your parts will work properly with the 71-72 spindles.

New Parts (inners/outers/sleeves) at Advanced Auto were about $80.00. Well worth the dough. I went with the Moog Parts.

Remember, the Master Cylinder/proportional Valve and Front brake lines require changing. With all of the change over and new parts, the ole' 69' drives like a champ.

the 71/72 tie rods use a bigger tapered end and the threaded end is 11/16 rather than 5/8 on the 67-70. i used 67 inners and outers and ran some sleeves from speedway motors and built some bushings to fit the smaller tapered end of the tir rods in the later spindles.
