I can't speak to the mileage issue yet, I run the SSR's on my 69 in the size you are considering. They are awesome. I haven't gotten to do much offroad but in the snow they seem great and their on road manners are very good. My old truck is pretty load so the tires are not noticeable at all. I can still brake well, but they are heavy of course. I'm gonna guess I have 3,000 miles on them right now, mostly on pavement and wear is neglibible. I'm wanting to step up to 37 or 38's.

Although I haven't run the BFG mud-terrains, I have the Goodyear MTR's on my 95 Yukon and they seem excellent. They are 265/75/16. I would have to say they are as load as my 35's. They really grip well on the dirt and snow. They don't handle hard braking very well, wander a bit. To early to say much about mileage, I have had them for about 10,000 miles at this point. Seem to being wearing consistently.

A major think you must do with these tires is rotate them religiously. Every 6,000 miles or even more often if you are so inclined. I had BFG All-terrains and failed to rotate them enough. Had to trash can them with about 1/4 useable tread cause they vibrated so bad.

Other than the rotation issue I had with the BFG's, I was happy with them.

Hope these thoughts help, too bad your not closer I would let you checkout my 35's to see about selling them to you so I could go up to a larger size.
