Post OK, Gotta vent...Damn salvage/wrecker people!!

I found a guy to had 1 ton dually I was going to buy, he runs a wrecker/salvage yard...well anyway..I have been going back and forth with this guy about getting the truck..he only wanted $250 for it. It has been at his friends yard for two weeks now and he said he can't get it back right now...so I don't know what is going on...and to top that off I had also made arrangements to get a 71 cab and also a 71 C20 4WD from him that he had towed in..talked money and all...now he tells me that he had to send them to the the junk yard to get scraped becuase his "partner" didn't want them sitting there.....holy crap! the 4wd had an awesome cab (for Florida any ways)....this really sucks....has any one else had any dealings like this....this is very frustrating!!!!

I would say that there is more to it than that on his part. They would have probably made more money selling it to you then scraping it so I would say something else was up. I could see if it was sitting and there were no takers and they needed the room but with you offering cash they should have jumped at your offer.

That or the other guy wanted to keep them for himself. I used to work at salvage yard that dealt mostly late model parts, anything over 10 years old was just hauled back to the crusher, with the exception of muscle cars and 67-72 chevy and gmc pickups. They wouldn't crush them because in a matter of days, someone would come in and buy them to restore or for parts.

opposite way around here, they crush em all except the novas and the big big trucks, and all pickups and all other cars go crunch within a week normally, and are almost always complete except maybe a door or grille or bumper. at least thats how it is in springfield and the bigger yards.. smaller yards never seem to ever come across anything older, just the bigger ones who waste them.,.

Well I guess you just have to deal with these idiots some times, as they seem to be the only ones who come up with the "good junk" around here...like fast said, everybody else down here also just smashes that "old" stuff up. So when I see something I try and get it...such a shame. Oh well...back to looking for a better cab and such.

And most of the people down here who have trucks..think they have gold...there is a guy who has a 70 that has been sitting (hasn't moved) for sale for over 2 years..it is rusted (and getting worse) and he said he won't take less than $1800 for it, and the dang thing doesn't even have a seat in it!
