Constant battery is anything not ignition controlled-connecting to battery is fine as long as you have an inline fuse.

Re: alarm help plz?

12 v dc

12 volts direct current

(either dc "direct current" or ac "alternating current, and anything household is ac. anything dc is automotive or basic battery operated except some alternator ignition and tachometer wires)

so 12vdc needs to connect to a wire or the battery and receive 12 volts with the key in the off, on, acc, and start positions. some wires you may find have 12 volts on all parts of the key except the start position and that can give you headaches.
