since alot of you guys are from Texas...
seeing Mikes post sorta got me to thinking about my dilema. Maybe yall have heard of Centex? well about ten years or so ago they bought the construction company, Forcum lannom, which i work for. My dad has worked for them for 40 years this coming june. well my job i am on is coming to an end this week and my dad, which is the superintendent i have been working for, seems to think he will prob be going to the Dallas, Fort Worth area to do some jobs the company has landed. and i have sort of been offered the chance "move up" and go but i have also been offered another job 3/4 miles from the house which pays more than i make now but lot less than i could make goin out of town. since i have a family i am going to stay here and take the new job. not that i don't like Texas but working out of town like that sucks, my dad did it for years when i was little and i didn't like it and i always said i would never do it and i aint.

I agree with you to stay in TN. Texas is great but a steady job near your house is much better incentive plus with a family the move would not be worth it.

Talking about CenTex the home builder? Man they can use some help in Austin. The are building some dung around here. One reason I'm buying an older home. Hopefully by the end of month too. Good luck with the job.

Centex built a 4 story building where I work. It had "issues."

well, centex is i guess a construction group, one of the biggest in the nation. they buy construction companies just like they bought the on i work for about ten years ago. we are not the home builders. there is centex rooney, centex rodgers, and so on. WHat centex does is they buy their reputation then the companies they buy sem to go straight to h#ll in a handbasket. the company i work for was big before. a top notch self performing construction company. now you can count the carpenters on your hands. it has turned into a construction management company really. Centex Engineering & Construction is what my company is now called. before, Forcum Lannom here had one of the best reputations in the country, but its amazing how quickly things change. we come in on the commercial end, factories, schools, banks, and such.
centex is based out of Dallas. |

DUNG - G , where do you come up with this stuff.
i agree the family thing is worth more than some extra money, believe me , i could be making 22.00 hr right now instead of 16.80 hr because i dont want to drive about 45 miles a day 5 days a week. right now i work 2 on and 2 off with every other FRI,SAT,SUN off. that is my family time
