looking for rearend measurement

I,m trying to measure from backing plate to backing plate on my 78 2 wheel blazer but have no help to hold end of tape,I,m getting 57 inches so far,does this sound correct.Someone is parting out a ford with a 9 inch and I can have it for free and I could use a nice strong rearend for my big block.

what, noone have a rearend out of there truck,I,d go to the wreckers but it just keeps snowing and snowing

sounds a little narrow to me but I don`t know if blazers are different from trucks, shouldn`t be though. I`m thinking it should be closer to 60-61".

I measured 57" from backing plate to backing plate on the 12-bolt from my '77.
