? about short beds
Hi everyone,
It has been over three years since I've been here. I had to sell my 71 Cheyenne and no that I'm getting things back together I'm looking for another 67-72 Chevy to get back into. My question concerns short beds, is the frame for a step side the same for a fleetside? What I want to do is switch a step side to a fleetside, I found an ok deal on a 69 step side but I really like the fleetside. Thanks in advance for your help. |

Welcome back. The swap shouldn't be a problem as long as they are both short. LockDoc

Re: ? about short beds
ggtsvnv,
Im glad you asked that, I think I am gonna do the same on the short step. I really don't care for the short step beds that much.

I can't believe my ears!!!
Yeah the frames are the same. But I cannot imagine why you would want to get rid of your step beds... Don

Re: ? about short beds
I like step sides because plywood fits perfectly between the sides.

Re: ? about short beds
Hey Don, the PO put on a bed from a 1979 chev. If it was the right family year I would keep it. I don't like the one that is on it now.

Re: ? about short beds
Why change? I like the fleetside better and the truck I'm looking at the bed looks like it was used at Fred Flintstones rock query. I'v seen snakes that are straighter. The wood bed is totally gone, and it's just shot. I can get the truck cheep though as in $500.00 and the rest of it is in decent shape.

ggtsvnv;3083786...you will find that we all have different opinions. Some like SWB (go figure) while others like LWB (yes baby!). Same with fleetsides and stepsides. I might like my truck 2 tone green while other say yuck. Though I like LWB Fleetsides...others like SWB stepsides...so...go for it. By the way... back.
