I found another set of gauges for my 84 that came from another 84 truck. The guy does not gaurantee that they work. Is there way to test them out of the vehicle? Are they rebuildable if they don`t work?

Yes, the gauges can be tested, in or out of the truck. Each one needs different data (speedo needs a mechanical twist/heat gauge needs a signal from a correct sending unit/ect). I've never rebuilt a gauge, as junkyard replacements are cheap, and factory gauges are sealed.

Thanks. I`ve never messed with them and would hate to buy a set of gauges only to have them not work. They look clean in the pictures and hopefully I can get them cheap. I also found a clock to put in the cluster if i end up with it. I was going to just go with Autometer but I`ve decided to just use the factory stuff.

You can rebuild them, but they cost more than it would if you found one that worked. I personally used to sell these and they are easy to check if you have a truck there. I wouldn't buy one if they owner can't say if it works or not, unless it was free.

Ya x2. I have never spent money on rebuilding just found another good set. I wouldn't give money unless I know that the gauges work just my .02 cents bud!

Thanks guys. I decided to pass on them. I don`t really have the money to be buying gauges now anyway. I just though that since they were unde $50 I might pick them up but I`ll wait. Whats a fair price for a gauranteed set of factory gauges?
