Distributor clamp

So, when I sold my old manifold, I failed to take the factory distributor hold-down clamp off of it. I bought a Mr Gasket unit, and its a piece of crap. Anybody got one they recommend? I'm not big on buying the $25 unit from Jeg's but I don't relish the idea of buying a series of $5 until I find one that doesn't bend out of shape when I tighten the bolt. Factory unit is only a couple bucks, but I gotta order it, then go pick it up. It'd be worth a couple bucks if somebody knows an online source for a good clamp.

Go to the salvage yard or even a local engine build shop and purchase a used one. other than that, use a quality piece like Moroso sells.

I had a killer distributor clamp on the '72 I used to have. Billet, quick release, made setting the timing a breeze. Can't find one like it now though.

No... recycling center is a green name for junk yard. We aren't all that green here yet. One day it will be, a few automotive recycling centers have opened up here, but they cost more than the junk yards do.

Politically correct individuals call them recycling centers or any other name that makes their tutu fluff. However if it is in the yard and we call them junk yards, salvage yards, or wrecking yards where I grew up, the stuff is up for grabs at a premum price of nickles and dimes.

Around here, within a 40 mile radius of nowhere, I can think of 2 places that have organized lots, vehicles lined up in a row, and a computerized inventory - "auto recyclers" -and they always have the highest prices. The other dozen or so are truly "junk yards" around here. If you can't find a holddown, I likely have one here I can send you gratis.
