LSX Guys- WIW?
What is a complete top end from a 2001 LQ4 worth? Heads, intake, rails, harness, all the parts. Has 100K on all of it

Re: LSX Guys- WIW?
Ummmm the huge pile of wires that is on top of the motor.... I am ditching it all and going carb. The stuff isn't worth more than $200?

Re: LSX Guys- WIW?
Heads maybe $150, intake w/ fuel rail maybe $100. The harness could be worth $200 or more if it's the complete engine harness. They are the 317 alluminum heads right? Out of curiosity, why the switch to a carb and what heads are you going to use?

Re: LSX Guys- WIW?
I am using L92 heads, I like carbs, the card intake looks way more badass than the stock tuck intake or even an LS1 intake. Since it is a 2001 I think the heads are iron? I am going to pick up the motor tomorrow so I will check.

Re: LSX Guys- WIW?
Seems so.. Just grab a magnet and stick it to the heads. If it doesn't stick it's aluminum. If it sticks it's Iron.

Re: LSX Guys- WIW?
If they are LQ4 aluminum heads they should have the number 317 on the identification pad, just outside the valve cover...most likely.

Re: LSX Guys- WIW?
I'd say $500 tops.....probably more like $300, and that's pretty much just the heads and harness. The truck intakes and fuel rails aren't worth much.
Do you have the coil packs too? Those might be worth a little too. |

Re: LSX Guys- WIW?
You have to use the coil packs still, even with a carb. Engine computer still has to run it.
But, if your upgrading, their worth a purty penny.. Atleast on the NorthStar V8 they are. I can sell my used ones for about 75 or so per side if I remember right (each pack has 4 plugs in that motor) Last edited by texanidiot25; 01-15-2009 at 01:58 AM. |

Re: LSX Guys- WIW?
Ya I have the coils, and am keeping them for now. I want to upgrade to MSD packs, but they are spendy! I am going to do MSD plug wires though.

Re: LSX Guys- WIW?
So your using the MSD box and the reluctor wheel for timing?
Edelbrock or GMPP intake?

Re: LSX Guys- WIW?
GMPP intake. Eddy didn't make a Vic. Jr. for the L92 heads until just recently, so they are spendy. I bought a used GMPP intake from a guy on the LS1 forum. And I do have the 317 heads. Are they any more valuable?

If you are selling the heads... What are you going to use instead?
