Re: Ok...it's time again for whats wrong with this ebay truck for sale ad

jorgensensc's got the best answer, I'd say...rust free (if it is in fact), swb with no major "mods"...try to buy an $800 rust bucket with a 'has-a-little-knock' original 350, and try to fix the rust, get everything running (electrical, engine, door hinges, wing windows, etc), upgrade to 5 lug discs, and let me know if you've spent less than $2500 - I doubt it. Good project for 3k in my opinion. I bet the seller thinks he'll see more than that, thinks "it's a classic".

As we continue to analyze this truck it's easy to see what its not verses what it can be be. I agree with the above that this truck has good bones and would be a good canidate to fix up. I have always been told mechanics are much cheaper to fix then major rust. Be that as it may...I am always learning and it's sort of fun to look at an advertised all "Original" truck and see what isn't original. I bet most people not familiar with our trucks would say Rallies were an option while others might say a BB 4x4 would also be an option. The purpose of this exercise is to learn what indeed was original on our trucks and so we contiue to learn in Chevy 101. Good input all!!

Re: Ok...it's time again for whats wrong with this ebay truck for sale ad

Sometimes people don`t know much about what they`re selling.Trucks can`t speak for themselves. The best thing to do,is if it`s of any interest to you and somewhere in the price range, call the aeller and you ask all the questions. You can judge it from there. You can only put so much info in an ad and some just aren`t good at representing a vehicle in a few lines. It`s pretty obvious this is the case with the seller claiming all original body style? What vehicle isn`t original body style unless it`s a lead sled or had a body swap?Original interiors? How many does it have?
The price seems worth looking into it.

Not so fast on the 3 point seat belts. They were indeed an option and a very very rare one at that. Just ask anyone who has either purchased a set or are still looking for a set of 3 point seatbelts.
BTW: Not saying that they are original but...
I need more pics to better pic this truck apart.

Yep, he's right...ever wonder about those plugs right above the driver's and passenger seat on the sail panel? Yep, those are for the shooulder belt attachment. I have actually seen 2 67-72 vehicles with three points...one was a 70 truck and the other was a Chevelle. A very rare option indeed.

It looks like a pretty decent truck, I live about 5 miles from the guy and have e-mailed him to call me so I could look at the truck and he says I will call you but he doesnt? I think maybe his wife wants him to sell it but he doesnt want to part with it. If he calls me I will end up looking at it this weekend and will let you know how it looks in person, thanks Michael.

I meant that the three point seat belts in that one were not original.

Re: Ok...it's time again for whats wrong with this ebay truck for sale ad

I'm not really one to pick apart somebodies vehicle they're trying to sell, but after having one guy pick both my T/A's to death, litterally spent all day out in front of my house. I'll add to it.

I like that original sadel blanket seat cover. And the original matching maroon primer.

It's not that cars don't rust in Phoenix it's that don't rust as much.

You take a 40 year old Phoenix car with no rust through and take it North or back East and in a couple of years with no prep you are going to have rust issues.

That's better than 90% of the descriptions I see on Craigslist. Sometimes I feel like e-mailing the authors and encouraging them to put an extra 2 seconds into punctuation and spelling. Internet syndrome at it's finest. At least he didn't say "original body style" was an option!
