Fuel Sending Unit Info.
Hi Group,
As most of us have figured out by now, if we changed the OEM stock gauges in our trucks to newer ones, we have issues with the new fuel sending units because of the differance in OHM's load. Sean over at E-Z wiring use to do the conversions for his customers but they no longer do this because of a liability issue (I think). However they made a simple to follow instruction sheet on how to do the conversion yourself. All it is is changing the resistor on the sending unit. Site Administrator, you may want to add this to your tech. article page. IF any of the members want this information, email me and I send it back to you. Make sure you put SENDING UNIT INFO is the subject line so I won't dump it as junk mail. jbgroby@charter.net OR if anyone know how to post this to the group, I can forward it to them and we can post this on the page. See Ya, Jake Groby Lacombe, LA.

Re: Fuel Sending Unit Info.
Yes, if you're running the stock in-cab gas tank and aftermarket gauges that are a 0-90 ohm operation, then you will have incompatibility issues. I've been offering the 90 ohm OE-style fuel sending units since the early 90s. For a recent install, you can ask 62shortstep how he likes his. Anyway, if you need one, PM me and I can build and ship one to you pretty quickly. Below is a link to my thread I posted awhile back:

Re: Fuel Sending Unit Info.
I'm in the same boat, 1978 blazer tank/sending unit in my 66 chevy panel with the factory gauge. Any idea as to where I could obtain a 0-30 ohm sending unit as shown in the 2nd photo in the 9th post?

Re: Fuel Sending Unit Info.
No worries...I just wanted to make sure that the people who do not feel like messing with the sending unit have a resource who has been doing it for some time. I started modifying the OE sending units a long time ago because I was getting a lot of requests first from friends then friends of friends who had V8 era trucks for a plug and play fuel sending unit solution. I only use new sending units because I've found using old units makes for inconsistent signals and there are always variables with the float function from manufacturer to manufacturer. Building new sending units, I can ensure consistency, and once installed, it shouldn't need to be replaced or adjusted for the life of the tank. Anyway, that's just kind of a quickie background and my experience messing with these things for some time now.

Re: Fuel Sending Unit Info.
Do you have a stock, in-cab gas tank, or have you relocated the tank to under the bed?
