Re: screwing into transmission hump

Crawl under it and check see if anything is there you might drill in to.

Re: screwing into transmission hump

If you use some short self tapping screws it might work.

Re: screwing into transmission hump

If I remember correctly there is at least a 2" gap between the bellhousing and the trans hump. All the wiring is on the frame as is the fuel lines. Tranny lines are on the passenger side of engine so you should be good. Try some 1 1/4" sheetmetal screws should do it. To get the screw started you have to press it through the carpet. Good luck.

Re: screwing into transmission hump

I beat the whole drill holes thing mounting my CB. I drove 18 wheelers and the radio was on the ceiling and I like it there, SO, I got my hands on some rare earth magnets and used them to hold the radio up in place and ran the wireing across the cab just above the rear window. It doesen't move 1 bit. Don't know what I'll have to do if I ever want to move it though. For now it's great, out of the way, visable and secure. jim

Re: screwing into transmission hump

Willett, Go to a local hobby supply store and ask for the rare earth magnets. Get 4 of them about 1" square. Test them first. Put 1 on one side of your wrist and 1 on the other side, if they stay put they are strong enough, if not they probably aren't. Be careful though, some of those danm things are so strong they will break bones. I saw one about 4 square inches you could hang on and I weigh 215#. Check it out. jim
