VIN plate differences - The 1947 - Present Chevrolet & GMC Truck Message Board Network

Can someone tell me why there is a difference in VIN plates with our trucks?

Specifically, what is this small plate compared to the fuller/larger plates?

I'm looking to buy this truck and don't want any suprises.

My 69 has a tag like that. Can't remember if there is another one under it. Your's looks like there was something under it or something. My 71 has a bigger one that uses 4 rivits.

67 - 69 used 2 seperate plates like the first one I have attached... in 70, they went to the one piece plate

However, Longhorn Man, if you run the vin I listed...it says its a '70. (and still a 2 plate)

But, at least I got the answer to the vin plate question. Thanks.
