Lmc

Has anyone used LMC for window channel and rubber door gaskets? If so, were you happy?

Re: Lmc

I was not happy with the inner/outer window sweeps. I ended up buying NOS sweeps for my windows. The ones from LMC were not even made by "re-pops". They did not seal the window properly when rolled up, allowing water to get into the doors when it rained or I washed it.

The window channel rubber (that goes around the frame, and down into the door) worked fine. I have NOS window channel rubber, and it is identical to the rubber I bought from LMC.

The door-to-cab seals sucked too. I would check with Wes (Classicheartbeat here on the board). He sells door seals that fit properly.

Hope this helps.

Re: Lmc

I'm with ledd. The window channel rubber works great, but the window sweeps(?), especially the outer one doesn't press up against the window good enough for a decent seal in places. Door to cab seals are too stiff for me.

On a good note, they're windshield and rear window seals seem to work really well. They're pliable to work with even cold days and seal pretty well.

Re: Lmc

With LMC it is almost always hit or miss. Some parts are fine, some are pretty crappy.
Most people on here love the catalog as a parts picture reference.
Been my experience with LMC. Hit and Miss

Re: Lmc

I used them for almost all my seals, glass and gaskets for Low Buck and I liked every thing but the door to cab seals. They do not contact well enough to really seal well (even worse at 85 on the freeway) plus they have already started comming loose from the cab. I am going to check into the 88+ style cab seals from the newer trucks that press onto the cab edge and see if they seal better. The only noise I get in Low Buck is wind noise comming from the leading edge of the doors at speed. Any other options I should look into?

Re: Lmc

So where is a good NOS to check into?

You guys mentioned something about a vendor here but where is that?

Is there a website with a URL you can tell us about for these parts?

Thanks!

Re: Lmc

classic chevrolet parts, inc in OKC produces both

they've never had a complaint that I know of. (prior employee)

P.S. LMC's prices are awesome - they deal in such volume their markup is marginal. I spent 3 years in the biz - they sell the same parts as everyone else, unless it says "LMC exclusive"

Yeah, me too, but i don't know any of them, so i passed on the only info i had.

If given a choice between lowe's and momandpop's, i'd go to mom and pops, unless i didn't know momandpop's existed.

The sweeps I got from LMC did not fit real good. The window tracks were perfect though. I would say though, for the few times I have had to order stuff from LMC I have been pleased.

Re: Lmc

My experience with LMC told me that they have people who answer the phone and take orders to fill. The people I talked to several years ago, couldn't answer any of the specific questions I was asking about the parts I had already bought and they had shipped.

You're better off talking to someone who knows what you are asking for and will supply what you need.

Re: Lmc

Well I have bought most of my body parts from LMC and have been very pleased with their prices and quality.

But will check other vendors for seals and their prices and see what if any difference they have to offer.

Thumbs down Re: Lmc

I have never had any issues with LMC's quality or prices. I have spent over $5k in parts in the last couple of years. The parts are almost always in stock and shipped quickly. I can't say the same for some of the vendors who frequent this board that I have bought parts from. Since many of the parts for these trucks are manufactured by one or two companies overseas, I go where the best overall prices are. I usually spend $1000 at a time to save on freight (Free shipping is nice for large panels)... I have comparasion priced parts with some of the board vendors, and they just can't beat the prices...
