67 2wd SWB, Bags or Coils? - The 1947 - Present Chevrolet & GMC Truck Message Board Network

My son & I are doing a 67 Chevy SWB 2wd project and have reached the point we need to drop the rear end 4"-6". We are considering Bags however this is a very low budget build. What is the least you have to buy/spend to use bags on the rear? Thanks for the help.

If you have a trailing arm rear, you simply can bolt bags in place of the springs, install schraeder valves, and fill them to ride at the 4-6" drop. Then you could adjust it if you ever had a load to haul by adding air and then after hauling let some air out...So just the cost of the bags and valves.

The real expense is in the air management and valves if you plan on adjusting the bags often. Compressor (s), valves or valve manifold, air tank, fittings, lines, gauges, controller....ads up in a hurry.

What size bag and is there a kit for this?

No kit as they truly just bolt on to the trailing arm. Slam specialties RE7, or Airlift D2600 bags work very well according to several on here. There are also several others including firestones and Air ride tech ones that work. If you check out any of bagged posts there are pictures with the bag bolted on at the bottom to the trailing arm....the only drilling is making room for the air fitting at the top.

I really like the idea of the air bags but this is what I would do if I was on a budget....

http://www.earlyclassic.com/home.aspx part number 02-6372-6r 6 inch rear lowering springs $100.00 plus freight and you are done.

I have the truck lowered now with springs. I just didn't think there was a bolt on for air bags.

That CPP kit isn't needed with the brackets and is overpriced. You can get two bags for under or around 150 plus shipping and two shocks for $30 each (if you need lowered shocks and haven't already installed those) Plus a couple schraeder valves and a short length of hose to make the fillup easier and you're riding on air in the rear for under 250.

It sucks not being able to hear! LWB trucks rule, if you don't think so measure your SWB! After talking to tech support at Air Lift I have found out that the kit I need is 60811. Per the measurements I gave them. Ride height of truck inside spring and inside diameter of springs.
