Dash cover vs. Dash pad - The 1947 - Present Chevrolet & GMC Truck Message Board Network

Trying to decide which way to go. Anyone out there used a cover? If so, how was the fit and does it look as good as the original dash pad. They sure are a lot cheaper. $86 to $229.

I have heard a few guys complain about the covers. I say if your going to keep the truck then get the real pad.

My vote is for a Real Pad.

I would suggest getting a rubber dash pad. Looks like the stock one but will not crack or fade. Pbkinplano has one and other than some minor trimming on the passenger side to fit better it looks and fits great.

Brandon, are rubber dash pads much more expensive than original dash pads?

They are cheaper than oem pads unless you can find a deal, then you might have to get it painted. I paid $ 175 for mine at the swap meet. But beware, its like solid rubber. It isn't metal wrapped in foam then covered in vinyl. Do your homework. Shop and compare. Go to my link below and see the pad.

Pkbinplano, who carries that rubber pad and how heavy is it? Solid rubber sounds like it would be heavy. Does it install like original with the clips and all?

Don't know who made it. Cheyenne pick-up parts has them for 189.95. Repro oem's for 225.95 ( plus shipping) . I would have rather paid the extra if I would have done my homework. But the rubber won't crack in this Texas heat.
