Re: Timings off
It sounds like what he means is that it runs lousy & I don't know how to fix it. Thats the oldest one in the book. "it just needs timing". The 292 has taller side pushrod covers then the 250 & has a bypass hose between the water pump & therm. houseing.

Re: Timings off
he didnt know how to set points so he changed the dizz ,not unusual that he didnt know how to do that either so now it runs like crap and to top it all off he doesnt even know what motor it is ///
treat it like a nonrunning junker and pay according to that

Re: Timings off
well he had someone put the dizzy in.. i didnt ask what motor it was.. i take it hes not a car person.. cuz it dont take but like 15 mins to adj the timing ...
but i'm getting it for "free".. ..trading some stuff for it.. my grandpa and i are going to get it with his flatbed trailer.. and when we get it home we'll mess with the timing.. i was looking in the paper and i can get a 350 and tranny for like 650 so i may go that route anyway.. will that 3spd hold up to a 350? i can get just a motor for less i just realized that its a 70.. not a 71.. its got a diff. grille

That trans should hold up to the 350. IIRC the main gear shaft on the 6 was narrower than the 8 but they're plenty strong anyway. I'll do a search to see if their was a difference. |
