Loose trans shifting

My truck has a three speed on the floor in it,that use to be on the column.Does a column shift trans shift different from a factory floor shift.Because when I shift it ,it's like I have to feel for the gears, they are not tight going between the gears. Is there something I can do about this, like a good linkage kit and if so which one or a link to get one.Or is it just how the trans shift, being that it was a column shift first. Thanks

Re: Loose trans shifting

Put a Hurst ? floor shifter in my truck many years ago when column shifter got hopelessly fouled . Haven't had any problems . Wish the stick was a bit longer at times .
