drip rail trim
anyone ever put the drip trim on there trucks what do you have to do

I have heard it is very difficult to put on, and does not fit well. That would explain why you do not see it on many trucks.

I`ve never put it on.I`ve seen quite a few trucks with it over the years.None or quite awhile,though.It looks great.I have a n.o.s. kit or a project and sold it before I installed it.

As it is shipped it will NOT go on easily or stay put unless the drip rails are perfect- most are not and then you will still have to trim to fit. The moldings were an original option in 69 but were discontinued due to the fact that they would not stay in place. The dealer repair was to rivit them in place and the home repair was to use pan head screws to hold them in place. I tried to install a set on my 71 when it was first finished and ended up having the rails repainted because of it and no moldings (waded up and thrown on the floor after day two). Following that feasco, I spoke to Jerry Brown as he is one of the few people I have seen install it andget it to stay- the secret according to him is trim the edge that attaches over the rail and use quick set epoxy to hold it in place. I say stay away it is not worth the hassle.

I like the trim, and added it to my '72 Super. As stated, it was a PITA to install, but it looks great. I bought the kit from LMC, and it was good quality.

The dealer fix as mentioned before was rivet them (with rosette VIN tag style rivets, no less!). The pics below are from a '69 CST parts truck I have.
