An idea (paint related)
Im really grooving on the whole flat black paint thing but at the same time I wanna be different. Im thinking of using one of Harley's "denim" colors on my truck. I have the paint code for one now but it is gonna require an entire color change. I can do most of the body work and I have connections to get it shot for little if any cash. I wanna drive the truck for a while first then I will start painting. It will probably be a summer project so I can ride my bike to work while it is in progress. I also cant decide all one color or a flat white top.

Re: An idea (paint related)
You could do that to any color you wanted by using a matting agent in the clear. You would have a lot broader selection of (well, any) color.

Re: An idea (paint related)
Thanks for the input. Mine is going to be a little while down the road though. I gotta concentrate on making it a good DD first. Also who ever painted mine before painted OVER a lot of needed and half assed body work. So I will have to correct those things along the way as well.

Re: An idea (paint related)
I was told that the flatt, matt, semigloss colors are to pourus(sp) to wax or buff. That it will stain it. Can you wax the Harley paint without staining it? Harley knows how much Harley owners like to rub on there bikes. Mabey they did something different. Thats why I changed to gloss.

Re: An idea (paint related)
No you do not wax the harley colors either. Also extra care is needed when fueling and using solvents as well.

Re: An idea (paint related)
Gotta be carefull of the bird-s#it too !!
There are urethane flats out there that can take it...well, solvents and stuff. Some people even use the SEM trim black (intended for interior trim, blackened panels, etc) The color looks awesome...but your lady drips some nail-polish on it's over !!! "Get the F#CK away from my truck with that S#IT !!!!!
