Confused again: Or still
Working on gauges and have a question. Checking ground at the gas sending unit, when i touch ground at the cab and the sending unit flange. I have continuity, when touching same cab ground and the gauge wire tab, I also get continuity, this is still mounted in the tank in the truck. I have a new one off the truck and again using a continuity tester i touch the flange and the sending wire tab I get a beep,. Is this right, These are both brand new sender, just seems funny to have continuity betwwen the two. Gary

Re: Confused again: Or still
This normal, if you didn’t have continuity your sending unit would be bad. As the float moves up and down in the fuel tank it changes the resistance to ground and the fuel gauge reads the resistance change. You would need a meter to measure OHMS to see the change. Do not recommend checking a fuel sending unit when it’s in the tank because it could short out and cause a spark in the gas tank.
