looks like a nice truck to me??? maybe the bodyline is off, but that could be a number of things. his description is 10x better than some of the crap I see on Craigslist on a daily basis.

Actually a pretty nice truck. Cab looks nice and clean underneath. I see original cab mounts, that's my guess on the body panel alignment.

The only thing I find "humorous" about the ad is this:

Discs weren't available on trucks until '71, but hey, if it's got 'em, cool. One less thing the new owner has to add

I agree that it's a nice looking truck but I'm just baffled by the whole year confusion thing. it's got a '68 VIN with all matching tags, but the state titles it as a '69?

That happened to my dad's 67. The VIN matches on the frame, glovebox, door sill, and the title matches, with the VIN identifying the year as 1967, However, for some reason the title say's it's a 1968.

There were some wierd thing that went on in some states as far as titles many moons ago. My MGB was a 75 model that did not sell until Jan of 77 and the state of AR had it listed as a 77 because of the date on the bill of sale. That was some of the fun back in tose days every state was a little different.

To be honest I never read descriptions or even instructions most of the time so with that said that truck looks very good and AL likes it.

Mine did the same thing (bed not lining up) and I had brand new polyurethane bushings. My friends does the same. I think I was just missing a large washer on top of the bushing when I replaced them. My dad always told me it wasn't uncommon for them the shim everything to get it right. My 83 does the same and I have shimmed it to get it right and it has brand new mounts and the cab is in good shape. I think there was a lack of attention to detail back them.

That's an understatement! If I remember correctly, body panel tolerances were 3/16".

On most of today's cars, it's millimeters

There was a practice "back in the day" in which the year model was the year it was registered, if it was new. Like you said, it depended on the state and what the factory generated for a Manufacturer's Certificate of Origin. By 1991, they (AR) had it figured out. I bought a '90 Olds 88 that had 14K miles on the clock and came with a MCOO from its usage by GM. It had the solar glass in it that came out new with the '91 Olds and Buick top of the line cars. It had paperwork from GM showing it was used in a ribbon-cutting ceremony in Toledo (Libbey-Owens-Ford glass?). But, it was registered as the '90 model that it was built to be.

The misalignment thing is actually very common on these trucks, but its no big deal. The bed mounts solid with no adjustment, and sometimes the cab (and radiator support) has to be shimmed up to match for some reason even with new mounts.

With the popularity of these trucks and so many of them being rebuilt by top shops into absolute show pieces we all tend to forget that these were just trucks intended for work duty. Close panel alignment tolerances were not required for trucks. Perfect trim alignment wasn't a concern.
I think we are all too quick to criticize for some things that were in fact normal for the time they were produced.
Sure, the left side door, fender and bed alignment on that red truck could be better but you know what, overall it looks better than mine. At least his is painted and he's driving his. The next man who owns that truck can correct those issues or just drive it and enjoy it for what it is.
