will 17X10 51/2 backspace with p27540zr17 fit on 84 sub without problems

Should fit just fine. With a 10", you need a minimum of 4.5" backspace to clear the fender lip. 5.5" backspace will work even better. I don't know what the maximum backspace you can run before it starts contacting the inside fenderwell or suspension, though.
If worse comes to worse, you can run a .5" spacer to push the wheels out, but I don't think you'll have an issue at all. If I recall, lots of guys here on the site have 20x9.5 wheels with 5.5 backspace. |

They'll fit but that's a short tire for these trucks.
