Trimmed in some of the parts yesterday
-
We got color on some of the parts yesterday. It isn't exactly what I thought it would look like but I will make it work. I will use an off white with it instead of bright white as I think the bright white would be too much contrast…. These are for the '71 4x, and since it doesn't match the already painted interior I will have to repaint the interior. We can't get it to match... ![]() LockDoc

Re: Trimmed in some of the parts yesterday
Leon, how "close" is it?
The cab is kind of sectioned off with the door seal rubber. If you reapaint the door jams in installed the rubber, would it really be noticable? I like the color too! Are you using single stage paint? Kayotic, where do you see a hollowed out fender? ![]()

eightbanger: The panels are air dried with hardener in the paint. Kayotic: They are stock fenders... 67ChevyRedneck: Not very close. I brought the cowl vent home and laid it inside the truck. I think it would be pretty noticeable. It is Omni, base/clear coat paint. LockDoc

Re: Trimmed in some of the parts yesterday
Thanks LockDoc, I always thought there was more of an inner skin to them.
I must be thinking of my '86 with more of a inner skin. I dred having to stick my hand in there for any cleanup. And while I am at it, Love the smell of fresh paint, Looks awesome. Last edited by Kayotic; 02-04-2009 at 10:38 PM. |

Re: Trimmed in some of the parts yesterday
I am willing to bet no one would ever notice that the interior didn't match, but...you will, and that would probably be all you ever noticed. Much easier to fix it now that later!
Nice paint booth! ![]()

Re: Trimmed in some of the parts yesterday
Leon, the '71 is coming together, and I love the color. Now I'm curious about the white color. IMO i think the bright white would make that thing pop, but I might be missing the true color of the orange paint. Any samples of what you're considering?
Keep it going Leon!

Dangum it! Just when I think there aren't too many red and white ones on the board, you do this!!
![]() It looks great! I am planning on doing my now-solid-red '69 like that. Although its not near as cool as Hart Rods', here's my concept pic! ![]()
