i`ve got a 68 stepside that i want to make a street machine out of. I want it to handle like it`s on rails and have around 400 hp. I`m thinking about an ls1 with a 6-speed(my favorite motor and trans) because i can get that power out of it easy. what i`m not sure about is susention. I want to lower it 2 or 3 in the front same in the rear. not too low just for handling. I don`t know about the trailing arms. Should I keep them or what. Any info would be great

How about an independent rear?I wonder about an Avalance rear.

djracer uses the trailing arms and swares by them. 67dragtruck had great results with trailing arm.

This is in reference to the same truck - Look them up....

special-k - You have any additional info on the Avalance rear. I have been searching and searching. Pending any major suprises this is the rout I would like to go.

The Trailblazer SS is the same way, as is the original 2003 Silverado Reg. Cab SS(that never had a chance)...

I purchased my 68 with the stock rear end connected to a Pete and Jakes street rod suspension setup. It is a 4-link design.
