Re: Muncie 4 speed swap ?'s

Those transmissions bolt right in where a 3spd was. So,get all the 3spd parts and bolt it in.I like to use an automatic crossmember with the rear trans mount and car bellhousing.

Re: Muncie 4 speed swap ?'s

I swapped from a 3 spd to 4 muncie. Its great till ya start really shifting them and ya blow them up.

but, you'll need from a parts truck, the clutch/brake pedals, clutch pedal to z-bar linkage, z-bar, z-bar frame mount, z-bar eninge pivot, z-bar to clutch fork linkage, clutch fork.

from some where else, you'll need a chevy car bellhousing, pilot bushing, flywheel, clutch disc, pressure plate, throwout bearing. shoule be able to use the starter ya got if bolts to bolt, think auto do, never messed with one. of course you'll need a shifter, hurst makes one for puttin muncies in these year trucks that works great. your driveshaft should work, might have to change the yoke depened on what year muncie you get, they have to different size outputs. think that should about do it. got any other questions, ask. Chris.

All of the later Muncies had fine spline. I think that began around '70 or '71. The only reliable way to ID M-22's is to pull the side cover and look at the gears. It seems that every Muncie I see at swap meets, CL, etc. is claimed to be an M-22
