Hey guys. I'm just letting all you with 48-59 chevy trucks can lower your truck and put 78-88 G body suspension components on your truck. Heres the ebay listings.

now that's a nice setup. the price pretty close to a mustang 2 swap,but with less hassle. i give it two thumbs up.

My truck uses a g-body frame.
It was done by the PO, but that is what sold me on the truck.
It sat so low and road so smooth. Having always owned (static dropped) lowered trucks, they all road terrible.

I did convert mine over to Air Ride.

I was going to go this route also cause I had a extra el camino frame, but I didnt cause just like my el camino there is almost no way to put rack&pinion on the frame. I have a friend with an el camino with rack&pinion and he spent about $1500 alone on modifcations and he still doesnt like his steering.

If anyone is looking to got this route I still have an extra el camino(G-body) frame with all the suspension for it.

Hey guys. Glad to see some positive attitude towards it. It is actually my dad who builds those and I figured that putting them here might help get the word out. He has done a couple frames that have gone down to Foose for body work, and one of the clips were used in one of the overhaulin shows. I guarantee that you will be happy with this set up. We currently have a 49 suburban with 454, TH400, front and rear heating and cooling, and my dads suspension. We used it to haul our travel trailer all over the country and it rides amazing, you wouldn't guess it was an "old car".

That's a pretty clean looking setup but I'd like to see some real feed back from customers who are running the setup.

I like the fact that it uses one source (vehicle type) for parts and those parts should be readily available for many years to come.
I also like the simple fact that the doner cars are readily available around here for next to nothing.

Keep us posted on progress and it looks like your pops needs to be a forum sponsor.

I just used the shipping calculator and it would cost 388and change to have it shipped to the house. Pickup at the shipping dock would probably less though.
I could actually jump in the mini van and drive the 500 miles down there and then come back with a night in a motel for less than shipping by truck.

read the ebay ad and it sounds like your dad knows his S%^t when it comes to these installs. it's nice to know that he makes the subs to order,and dosn't fram them out. the 55-57 chevy sub he said he mods the pitman arm at no extra charge, now that something that saves you time and money. i think if i was going with an orignal frame i would go with his setup.

Having done this subframe on my 54 I would interested in seeing how this negates the core support/steering box interference.

Show us some pics of the installed unit with core support in place. That will show whether this is as easy as the seller is trying to make it appear.

The G body ride is great but getting past the fab needed for this installation makes it one of the more difficult subframes for an AD truck.

I can see where it would be fine for a Task Force model but I would rather use a camaro sub there.

I'll see what I can come up with as far as pictures and more info goes, but if anyone is truly interested, just throw my dad a message on ebay and he will be able to answer all your questions. As far as i know, hardly any fab work is needed, we had a 48 truck that was just a fun work truck and he put his front clip on there and bolted the manual steering box and straight six engine and everything else back up. man that was a fun truck. Heres a pic of his 48 that he did with his front suspension and a 4 bar rear suspension out of a buick roadmaster (same as caprice classic). My mom has a caprice and you can hardly tell the difference between how they both ride.

and heres a pic of his and one he did for a friend. both have LT1's (acutually ours has the 4.3L version, but plans are to put a LT1 in soon). Less than a week after the other guys was finished, he drove it from here in NorCal to the East coast with no problems at all.

But if you are interested, just shoot my dad a message and he will be able to answer all your questions.
