No trim
Could you order a truck in 68 with no moldings? My 68 LWB is about as basic as it comes. The only option on the SPID is heavy rear suspension. It has the original 307 w/3OTT. The PO repainted it. I would like to put the correct lower side and tailgate trim on it. There are no trim holes that I can see, and if the PO filled them in he did a pretty good job as I can't find any evidence of this. If it never had any holes to begin with, do I have to drill them or is there stick on trim available?

Upper/lower side moldings were an option. In '67-8, the trim followed the body break along the lower body and over the wheel openings.
Unless the SPID says it had bodyside trim, the P.O. probably didn't fill any holes. I also believe that year had the kind of trim attachment that used holes in the body. Later models (71-up) had adhesive attachments. I have removed my side trim, upper and lower, and the holes will be filled.....weird, huh?

Mine had the molding but I've seen them without. In those days you could just about order any option or absolutely no option on them that you wanted.
As for the other question, I think I've read on this site that you can do it either way -redrill holes or stick. However, in my opinion, seems that the molding on the 68's would be a lot harder to do with the glue/stick method. forgot to add: I've never seen "stick on" trim available. My 71 had the holes down the sides. I welded them up this last time.

Per the measurements I gave them. Ride height of truck inside spring and inside diameter of springs. |

ChevLoRay So would the 71-up lower side and tailgate fit on a 68? I don't want to drill if I don't have to.
