school me on 67-72 cabs please!

I am trying to help out a friend, and would like some help from all of the 67-72 experts on here. Are 67-72 pickup cabs identical and completely interchangable for all years...in terms of sheet metal and such? If not, what exactly are all the differences between the 67-72 years? Also, what about the gas tanks, same size and dimensions? I am not concerned with electrical, gauges, columns and such...just the sheetmetal (inside and out) along with gas tank size and placement. Thanks in advance, I appreciate all your help!

I think a bare cab with nothing the only change is the back windaw but thats completely bare

67-68 cabs have different ebrake and throttle set up then 69-72. 67 cab could have small rear window. 72 cab has door vent (black plastic grille below driver side door latch). Minor dash changes from 67 to 68-72. (67 dash has different ignition switch area and different lighter area). Overall, not a big deal using different year cabs. Biggest issue is the vin plate and the laws about changing that.

There are some minor differences. The location of the fuebox changed over the years for one thing.

Later cabs had a pressure relief vent in the door jamb too.

Absolutely nothing that can't be overcome though

1971 cab has a raise in the panel where inside mirro bolts, and the 72 mirrro was on the windsheild

I know that 68's had these "squirly" patterns in the floor (not sure why) and the rear angle brackets under the gas tank (more support?)

Some also had removable humps over the tranny. This didn't matter for years but all 4wd's and bigblocks with floor shift had them...

Adding to what others have said, '67 has a 1 year only slider type ashtray. '68 - '70 has a ball-bearing roller type ashtray. '71 - '72 has a slider type ashtray. Starting in '69, a rear cargo light was optional. Also '67 - '68 had both the headlight and wiper switch on the left side of the cluster and a choke knob (or choke knob delete plate) on the right. The '69 - '72 had the headlight switch on the left and the wiper switch on the right.

Not only was the gas pedal different but the floor in 67-70? had a raised pad and two holes for the pedal to mount to...

All of the above posts just about cover the differences as far as I've found. Just changed my 68 cab over to a 72 last fall and am still in the re-building stages. I'm gonna use the fuel tank out of my 68 and I haven't bought the grommet for the neck yet, I'm pretty sure they are different.

I'm thinking the section of the dash where the ignition switch and the same area where the cig lighter are located are different on a 67 cab versus the other years. They aren't as "deep" of a recess.
