Instrument Panel Painting

I'm thinking about re-painting my instrument panel, has anyone done this ? I'm talking about the chrome on the outer edges and the round bezels for the gauges. Thinking about chrome spray paint for that part and flat black for the rest. Any ideas ?

I tried the same thing.

The problem I had was the spray paint chrome looked like spray paint chrome. Not bad, but a little to home-made looking for me.

I sanded it and repainted the whole panel flat back and it looks good.

White face gauges on the all flat black would look very good...

I think it was Ricks pickups that has them for 30 bucks or so

On my '68 stepside I repainted the edges and bezel insides with "Fawn" a silver/gold that the factory used in '67 and '68. The deck of the dash panel got zapped with flat black. I also painted the speedo and fuel gauge needles with "stoplight red". It came out well. Looked so original, I almost looked for the GMAC payment book in the glovebox.
The chrome look came in in '69 or later anyway.
I got the "Fawn" spraypaint at Year One or Paddock Parts, I think.

u could try chrome plastic paint for hobbies. Two good ones are spaz stix chrome and another is Alclad II. Both of these have good chrome qualities painted over a gloss black surface. They require mist coats to achieve the chrome affect.
