holley truck avenger
is this carb any good... im looking to buy a blazer and im not sure if i want to get a fuel injected model. or get something cheaper with a carb.. i have used edelbrock and quadrajet and when hillcliming they bog out... i do alot of trail riding.. im skeptical about these holleys.. but i dont know how good a tbi chevy will hold up to lots of trail riding.. any one who has a truck avenger tell me what you think..
![]() plus anyone who has a tbi chevy, how do these hold up to offroading.. Last edited by lowe137; 02-08-2009 at 04:36 PM. |

Re: holley truck avenger
I can tell you the TBI will handle all you can give it.It will definately hold up better than any carb.

Re: holley truck avenger
From what I have heard the Avenger is pretty good. You can actually buy kits that will do the same thing to a regular carb. I have ran the off road and the street versions. My problem was an intake problem and not the carbs.

Re: holley truck avenger
i have the holley street avenger on my 350
it's pretty close to the truck avenger mostly butthe truck avenger is supposed to handle better offroad on more agressive angles..etc etc.. but i dont really have problems with mine.. not any that i diddnt cause myself.. umm "upgrades" edlebrock rpm highrise intake... and if u wanna be fancy get a throttle spacer plate also.. =-) that's pretty simple =-)

Re: holley truck avenger
Ya I got T.B.I 350SB in my Fullsize '90 Blazer and I did a lot of cruising on trails in the mtns and mudding it did great no major problems at all. I put all accel stuff on mine plugs, wires, dizzy cap and rotor it also had a Helix Spacer on it that helped out.

Re: holley truck avenger
TBI all the way... Carbs are great untill they dump over on a side hill and you start to roll down backward with no power brakes or power steering because the engine died.
Right about in that moment you will be saying( I need EFI)............. |

Re: holley truck avenger
I spent a small fortune tryin to get a carb to work offroad and finally went with a TBI and have never looked back.I wouldnt spend alot of money tryin to get any offroad perf out of a TBI engine.Take that money and spend it on gears,lockers,and/or a doubler. You'll be better off.

Re: holley truck avenger
I have an Edelbrock and although it runs great, it also floods when parked in my driveway (30 deg. angle). Carbs are great for simplicity but if you want reliability, tuneability and some thing that does a little of the thinking for you, I'd say the extra 1500 is well spent money. I'm going for the LS1 swap next year myself just for those reasons alone. Good luck, Chris
