hubcap question

How can you tell the difference between 1/2 ton hubcaps and 3/4 ton hubcaps? I see a lot of them for sale on Ebay. Thanks.

Re: hubcap question

Scott,
The 1/2 ton diameter is right at 10 1/2 and has a concave center shape where the bowtie is. The 3/4 ton caps have a 12 inch diameter and have a convex center to clear the end of the differential.
Here is a pic that was posted some time back of the 3/4 ton. I did just measure one of my 1/2 ton caps but don't have a picture.
Hope this helps.

Jeff

Re: hubcap question

Jeff- Thanks for the info. The diameter measurement is most helpful, and sounds like a sure-fire way to tell. I have seen hubcaps with the center pushed in (concave) and pushed out (convex) I thought that was a variation based on the years the hubcap was used on. Pickmup did a post a while back that showed the 73-up 3/4 caps were concave (pushed in) and he just pushed them out to make them look correct for 67-72. I did not think that it made a difference in clearing the diff. Your info is most appreciated!
