Non-GM Hood Hinges??
Hey guys, I need a pair of hood hinges for my '69. I know several vendors sell both the GM originals for around $90 each and the non-GM's for $35-40 each. Any reason to think that the non-GM's wouldn't work just as well as the new GM originals? I just don't really want to spend $180+shipping on hinges on a project that is already over budget.
I would really like to hear from guys that have used the the non-GM pieces, good or bad. Thanks guys!!

Re: Non-GM Hood Hinges??
I have heard that aftermarket hinges sometimes bend. I got originals last year from Classic Parts of America
I think for $75 each.

I got a set of repop hinges and springs. They work perfectly and seem like solid pieces.

They work fine if you keep them oiled.

Re: Non-GM Hood Hinges??
I just installed a new gm set on a truck that I am building. Passenger side hinge is worn out. Or I moves like it is worn out. It has all the play the you see in a worn out hinge. I thought I might have picked up a used hinge but I still had the gm stickers that I torn off of it. So if you put gm ones on it, that could be bad too.
