Angry Re: CL find: Poor old '76 Spirit truck

I used to own a Spirit of 76 ('76 Bonanza). Are they rare at all? I bought it from the original owners and took immaculate care of it. I sold it to a buddy of mine who was letting his 18yr old brain dead son drive it to school, and he rear-ended a late model Silverado and totalled both trucks. Typical story, had the radio up full blast, not paying attention to the upcoming red light. It broke my heart to see that truck after the accident. It had been well taken care of for 27 years, and it took less than 3 months after I sold it before it was a pile of junk.

They own a body shop, and they got the frame back to square and replaced the front sheetmetal, but it's just not the same. The kid has all these plans for it, but it sits outside in the weather with no motor or trans. Sad
