Hey Paz,

I'm going to be hopefully swapping my bench out this summer so I can't help you there. Here's my website though...it's a work in progress www.digitalcampground.com/chvchk

How long have you lived in Anchorage? I grew up and spent most of all my school years there. Still have family up there that I hope to visit this summer.

Anyways, congrats on the purchase! Got pics???

I would suggest you use the search function because this has been discussed before. Several members have replaced their seats with aftermarket ones like you're describing. There are some issues with some companies and I think you'll find that out in the search results.

Congratulations on the truck! We'd love to see some pictures. Oh, and welcome to the board!!!

PS. If you want to see some various interior pics (for seat ideas), check out the link in my signature. I have a section on there for interiors.

Here's a pic of the new toy -

I've been in Anchorage for about 8 years. Love this place. We live over near the Turnagain area. We are from Spokane Washington but moved up with the Force! We're relocating to Minot next month. Thanks for the feedback everyone - keep it coming! Headed to the search engine now ~~

Dude I was going to buy that truck and you got it 1 day before me. I ended up buying this black 87 350 fuel injected shorty 4x4. I was talking to the guy when he brought your new gmc up to the chevy dealership to get it checked out. I have a 4 inch lift and new 35 bfg mud terrains sitting here waiting to put them on it. I will put the lift on soon. I just bought a 94 chevy silverado 4 spoke steering wheel for it, and chrome dif covers. I will post pictures of it when I'm done.

Coincidence or ??

Wow - no kiddin! I'd been lookin for several years for a clean 87 - my buddy had seen it run thru ebay with very little attn and I contacted the owner thru that. Long distance purchases are a hassle but it luckily it worked out. I haven't even seen the truck in person yet as a buddy is storing it in Denver for me til this summer. I hate to change the seat out but the factory seat in those is so awkward. If I find the right replacement's I'll change em but other than that and a possible cowl hood, its not gonna see much of any face lifting.

You saw it and liked it - tell me what you didn't like about it. I saw your truck for sale as well and was very very interested too but it just didn't snag my interest like this. The gray interior, miles, options, and obviously the condition - really hooked me.

The things I didn't like are my own preference.

I don't like the 2" body lift,he also rearched the stock leaf springs, they will end up saging over time. Easy fix though.

The sticker on the tailgate, that could be taken off,I asked him to make sure it wasn't painted on.

I think it had manual lockouts, I don't lke them. Some people do have had problems with automatic lockouts.

The tires are a cheap tire, don't care for them.

Don't like the truck driver visor on the roof, he said it was screwed on, so there would be holes if you take it off.

I like the chevy grills and badges vs gmc.

I wasn't a big fan of the way the exhuast looked.

I got this black chevy cheaper then that gmc.

Like I said these are my own preferences.

I would of bought it if you didn't.

That gmc is in excellent condition, killer truck, it looked way clean.
I'm sure you got a nice ride, thanks for stealing it from me.
J/K I think I did ok with this black one, I'm a big fan of black.

Later,
Jason

PAZ,

That's a good looking truck! I swapped out some seats in my 85. Went to the local junk yards and found some buckets and center console out of a 98. Got everything including hardware for $200 I bought my 90 online, was kinda worried but turned out to be in great shape. It's my daily driver now. Good luck on the seat swap.

well, I think it would look cool with a 91 burb grille conversion, along with the cal hood. hopefully i can do my burb grille swap along with the other things i got planned for it next week during my two week goof off period i'm gonna have between jobs. I'm gonna try to have everything done and ready for paint before i go back to work.

Soft Tail - funny, your thoughts regarding my new ride are right on line with mine. Hard to judge the exhaust requirements til I have a chance to judge it - definitely needs a finishing touch. I've got a few thoughts. I've been told its a quiet - I like a humble rumble. Tires - I'm seein that too, visor - if I can find a confident body man - I'd like to eliminate that. Grill - I also like the Chev but I have to say mine caught my eye but needs bump guards - it takes a backseat the Chev grill. I have always like the 91 burb grill - wonder what mods that requires other than the obvious hardware - core support? The body lift is going away for sure.

No hard feelins now I hope . There both GM and you got your choice of color! keep me posted with pix as you update that ride.
