leaky tranny question
well truck hasnt actually been drivin in 3 or 4 months due to fixing rust.. and i noticed tranny fluid on the ground every night now i crawled under it and seen its drippin from the speedo cable hook up spot o nthe tranny.. does this mean it needs to be drivin or something??? if so im thinking ill just stick it on jack stands and put it in gear so i can just get the tranny moving again...good idea bad idea?

Re: leaky tranny question
Should be able to remove the speedometer gear housing and replace the seal.

Re: leaky tranny question
Had the same problem with my sons truck. Had tranny fluid running out of the speedometer cable. The truck hadn't been driven for a year and the driven gear seal started to leak. This is an easy fix, take out the driven gear housing (bullet) and take it to your locale tranny shop. They should have the seal and O ring, cost should only be a couple of dollars. Here is a good web site for speedometer gears and parts. http://www.transmissioncenter.net/sp...n_______va.htm

Re: leaky tranny question
ok im gonna wait though because its not ready to be drivin... no bed no front clip.. but it done this before and all i did was drive it and it fixed itself but i cant drive it now without getting pulled over... so i think im just going to put a pan under it to keep the ground from getting all oily.. thanks guys for your help
