Anyone used these style lights? - The 1947 - Present Chevrolet & GMC Truck Message Board Network

These are projector conversion lights. I have seen some before but they were around 300 and the projectors were larger. These are supposed to be glass lenses with metal housings. Think I'm gonna get a set cause they're so cheap and try them out. I have HID lights ready to install and would rather use something with a projector so the light isn't bothersome to other drivers. I won't drive at night too often, just on the way home from cruise-ins in the summer.

those look a lot like the black ones I got.... I think burning my $30 woulda been more fun

Was it fitment problems, fogging, breaking, poor light output? .....

i had the black ones for about 30 feet and had to back up to the shop and take them out i couldnt see more than 10 ft.

Well of course if you get black, it's not going to reflect light well.. Black absorbs color light.

Since I have a GMC with quad lights, I run the smaller headlights than the dual headlight Chevys. I have switched to lights that accept the H4 bulbs. You can always get different wattage bulbs. I'm happy with the conversion.

a projector doesn't need a reflective surface, and in technicly, even a low end regular bult lamp with a projector lens shouldn't need a reflective surface either, that's why some new cars (with projector lenses) have sich tiny headlamps that are not chrome inside.
As far as why mine sucked, they weren't quite the right diameter, you install the retaining ring, and you could still pull them out, they weren't the right depth, the lens inside was not centered properly...
basicly, they were the perfect example of why we say made in china sucks.

I bit off on set of so called projector lights on Ebay. The glue holding the projector lens melted the first time I went down the road with them. Silver reflectors.

i have a set similar in my truck i bought of ebay and the only part i dont like is the moisture build up in side from the way the blinker bulb is built in to it but the ones you have shown look better made mine just have a hole drilled in it with the light stuck into the hole those look like they were made with the hole for the blinker
