Junk yard score today.

Well i usually go to the yard if i have time on sundays to poke around and see if they have any 67-72's (they never do). And i walked in today and saw a sign for 15% off transmissions (I have been considering a t-5 swap for a while). And walked through the yard and found a t-5 partially pulled already. Shifted through the gears nice and checked out ok as far as you can go in a yard. Tried to call some friends to run the numbers and check the gears no one would answer. So i decided to pull it any way. Turns out it is a 1352-042 which gives me a 4.00 first which i think is deep and a .76 overdrive which is nice seems ideal for what i want. Now i just have to ebay a clutch kit and put it in. On a side note are Luk clutches any good?

Luk clutches are good one's. If you don't mind me asking what did you pay for it. Thinking of getting one for mine. Thanks

Re: Junk yard score today.

Just remember guys, they cant take all that much abuse or towing. They are performance made, not truck made.

Re: Junk yard score today.

I don't plan on towing or hauling much more than my dirtbike maybe a SMALL teardrop trailer and I drive nicely when i tow. I paid $115 for the transmission and that was with a $30 core that i obviously won't get back. This t-5 is from an 84' s-10, i think you can get the same gears out of an 85'. It may or may not need some modification to the input shaft to work properly i will post back when i know for sure. If i take enough pictures of the install i will attempt a writeup.(I hate washing my hands to take pictures)

Edit There are luk clutch kits on ebay for $120, plus shipping.
