Re: idea

Why not fix the problem? It sounds like the accelerator pump on your carb (asuming it isn't fuel injected) is bad. A vacuum leak could be part of this issue, as could ignition timing/plugs/wires/cap & rotor, ect.

Re: idea

Unless you've added a electric fuel pump which should be activated soon as the key is turned on, It will be hard to hook a momentary switch to a mechanical pump.

Sounds like the two welch plugs in the bottom of the float bowl, They start leaking fuel out of the bowl into the intake when the engine sits for long periods (over night). Then the engine must be cranked over enough to re-fill the fuel bowl before it will start. These leaking welch plugs can also cause bad fuel mileage.

The fix is remove the carb and cover these two welch plugs with JB-Weld letting cure then re-install.

well here is my problem no fuel enters my engine when i crank it only when its running can you see fuel go into it by the fuel filter and for fuel milage i get about 11 mpg

Re: idea

Well,

With the rest of the story now revealed, Replace the accelerator pump as shadetree suggest.

Re: idea

The accelerator pump is the pump in your carburetor. What kind of carb are you running?

Re: idea

Go down to a parts store and get you a rebuild kit for your carb. Or simply just get the accelerator pump. Or if you have the money it is worth getting an edelbrock carburetor they are great carbs.

Re: idea

Once again, it "sounds" like the accelarator pump in the carb. If you don't think you are capable of replacing the pump, see if you can't find someone local that can help.

We don't mind giving advice, but you should be willing to accept it if you ask....

Re: idea

Also, Take all the numbers off your carb with you to get the proper kit/pump.

Re: idea

Poke, the priming idea is a bad one.One backfire and you have a fire that you may not get out.I hope you don't take that the wrong way, just to many things to go wrong.Don't want anybody hurt.
