starter engagement
I just bought a tilt column off e-bay in December and of course after cleaning it up and painting it, I put it in my truck. Everything works fine except for one thing. Sometimes when I'm shifting back into park,
 the starter engages for a second when the indicator is near reverse. It doesn't do it all the time and as soon as it is in park it stops. Has anyone out there had the same issue? Is it something I did when I put it in? Do I just need to make a linkage adjustment? With the ignition switch on the dash how is it possible for the shift linkage to effect the starter. I really hoping my only ever e-bay purchase is NOT the culprit somehow.

The only thing I can imagine that it would be is that the neutral start switch reverse light wire is touching the purple solenoid wire when you get near the reverse indicator.

Could be, because the neutral switch may not be hooked up right. any pointers on how to confirm. If these wires are crossing what is the fix? Is it a major issue to fix? Thanks, Cnut

I think your going to have to down load from FAQ the diagram chase wires. Pay attn to the starter wires especially between the neutral safety switch n ignition switch. Might even be a faulty neutral safety switch??

here it is . The NSS is in the center. Notice the dark green and light green wires on the reverse switch and the purple wires on the starter solenoid side.
