71-72 rear end width WMS to WMS needed!

Just as it says can someone give me the dimensions of the 5 lug 71-72 rear end on a stock 12 bolt from the WMS to the WMS? I am getting ready to order my rims for my 72 Tahoe and want to check the #'s between my C4 IRS and the stock 12 bolt. Mine came with a 3/4 ton diff so it was no help to me for this. Frizzle Fry has the stock diff in his Tahoe and he is running the Coy C5's with the 5.5" BS with no clearance problems. I will be running the same rim but in a Gun Metal Grey and wanted to check against his fitment (he does not have the info).

Thanks for the help.

Kevin,... I just pulled my 5-lug rearend out of my '71 swb last night. I just went and measured it and came up with 64-1/8".
I clamped two levels on the face of the drums and measured between them.
Hope this helps.

That helps allot Thank you! It tells me that FF's is the same 64-1/8" with 22x9" rims with 5.5" back spacing. He had room for the 5" back spacing but they sent him the 5.5's for some reason. My Vett IRS is 63-7/8" so the 5" back spacing with 305/40-22 will fit great on mine with room to spare! Time to order rims

Be careful with Coys. I've heard of alot of people getting wheels that Coys "decided on their own" to send,... instead of what you actually ordered.

i had a small problem with coys when i ordered my wheels, make sure you tell them if you have big disc brake's or not, i have the same c5s in gun metal gray, the valve stems mount in the center of the rim, and i had a problem clearing my big disc brakes, they took care of the problem though and they have good prices.

Definitely be specific that your rear drivetrain set-up is not a standard application & that you must have your spec'd back-spacing. I also ordered 5.00"BS, but they sent 5.50"BS wheels (they claimed I would have had to wait longer & they didn't want that so they sent what they had available).

As for clearing big disc brakes.... mine cleared 13.4" C6 Z51 brakes just fine w/a shorter 'ATV' rubber valve stem.

Building a small, high rpm engine with the perfect bore, stroke and rod ratio is very impressive.

They did the same thing to me. They don't seem to stock the 5" BS like they do the 5.5"s. They said I would have to wait 4-6 wks for the 5". I said that is ok I will wait. Well I ended up getting the 5.5"s after all, don't ask. I'm running billet spacers out back so its all good, just would have been nice to have an extra .5" lip. Oh well. BTW, I have the 68 shorter axle.

Re: 71-72 rear end width WMS to WMS needed!

Thanks guys for the word of warning. I have checked around and what you are telling me is nothing I have not already heard so we are all on the same page. I ordered the 5.5" after doing some more double checking. I clear fine at ride height and the top of the tire tucks in great but the bottom comes out some at fill dump. I decided to go 5.5" and then once I mount the rim I will decide if a 285, 295 or the 305 will fill and clear the best. They are out of the Gun Metal finish so it will be 4-6 weeks before I have the rear but the front will ship next week. I figure even if I have a problem or two I have along time before I am looking at driving this thing so for the price I can work out a few bugs. Yes they know what my suspension is and just what I need so lets see what happens.

Actually they told me that they only shave the "pad" to go from 5" BS to 5.5" BS. So no additional front spacing is had with the 5" BS vs the 5.5" BS.
