Air baggers. Need help asap. Valve wiring?

I figured this was pretty straight forward. I have SMC valves. One red wire and one black wire per valve. I figured you ground the black wire and put the red to hot if you want it to open. That doesnt work, so before i keep screwing with it. How do you wire them? Is the black go to positive and the red to ground???

No one??? I just dont want to mess up the valve. I cant see that the red wire would be for a ground and black for power...

Well, just put the black to the negative on teh battery and the red to the positive. It works. I just dont get why it wouldnt work the way i had it. THe black grounded on the frame to bare metal and the red to the positive on the battery.. IDK...

Shane, i had the black wires grounded to the frame. Bare metal. I applied power to the red and nothing. Just doesnt make sense. I dont have my battery installed in the truck, so does that mean my frame is not grounded???

ONce i took the grounds off, hooked them to the negative on the battery, then the red to power, it works. Im just wondering why the darn frame grounds arent working.

If there is no battery in truck then there is no negative / ground on the frame. Once you reinstall the battery and ground it to the frame then you should be fine.

good luck!
