Question 79 Ignition question, what do you run.

Hey fellas, thanks for reading. I posted an ignition question in the Electrical forum, and have gotten no replies. The link to the other thread is...http://67-72chevytrucks.com/vboard/s...d.php?t=330980. What I'm asking is what system to switch to, what total ignition swap is the best. What do y'all run on your trucks, etc. Any help is much appreciated. BTW, I apologize for the 4 month pause in my posts to these boards, Life has been terribly busy for me lately (re-assignment at work, etc.), and no time to do much online stuff.

Re: 79 Ignition question, what do you run.

mine is still the stock HEI. I'll keep it HEI when I build my engine, and will very likely buy this kit:
http://store.summitracing.com/partde...5&autoview=sku

$178 and includes a blueprinted distributor and a multi-spark digital capacitive discharge ignition box. The last 2 cars I put a "multi-spark digital capacitive discharge" box on, I could feel a difference at idle, low speed and high speed plus my mileage went up some.

That msd kit in your other post would be great too. The main thing to look for in an ignition box is that is has "multi-spark digital capacitive discharge".
