help trans question

I have a 1970 c10 short wheel. Removed the manuel transmission that was an add on. There is a crossmember that dont know if i need or if i can cut it out. Going to replace with a turbo 400. If i need a cross member for the 400 do you know where i can get one.
thanks

Re: help trans question

welcome to the boards.
The crossmember that is there.... what does it look like, where is it. If the 4 speed was added, it may be exactly what you are looking for.
if it isn't what you need, you can get one from any 2 wheel drive 67 - 72 truck in the junk yard, or get an aftermarket one... I think CPP offers one.

Re: help trans question

Just did the same and had all those questions - my post might help. http://67-72chevytrucks.com/vboard/s...d.php?t=316174

Here is an image of the crossmembers. Top one is for an auto, bottom is the one I pulled out from the 4 speed.
