Porterbuilt- Weld-in Notch- Free Shippping- Till March 31

Hey guys, I finally got around to getting my weld-in notches all finalized. It's a "mostly welded" weld-in notch, and I have two versions: 63-72; and 73-87.

As pictured they will lay frame with up to a 32" tall tire. If you're running a smaller diameter tire, or not quite wanting it so deep, you can trim it down to fit, or I can build them shorter.

Below are some pics of both versions. They come as pictured, including the ground and finished edges.

The "Mostly Welded" notch kit runs $299, and the "Unwelded" notch kit (pieces only) runs $175. I will be throwing in free shipping anywhere inside the continental U.S. until the end of March.

I don't work quite as quick as you do! I guess it's because I am human, and have to get more than 3 hrs. of sleep a week!

Re: Porterbuilt Weld-in Notch

Nate,
Do these come with instructions on where to weld them in? I have never done this and i am going to do it. I was going to purchase the bolt on system, but if these come with instructions on where to place them to weld them, i know an awesome welder that could get it done for me. Options are always great and if i can save a few bucks in the process, even better.

It is much easier than you think. Plus there are tons of threads on this forum that give you tons of tips and advice. All you really need to do is jack up your rear end to see where your center line is then put the notchs on the frame and weld. After they are welded then cut the part of the frame that needs to be removed. Then weld that bottom piece that completes the notchs and wala. Your done. That simple if you have basic welding skills. Probably take you a half of a saturday. Plus Nathan makes some really nice, high quality products so if you are looking for some notches i would definatly consider his product. Good luck

Josh

These don't come with installation instructions in terms of measurements for placement and depth. I am making them taller than most will need/want, but this allows the end user to trim the height, and place the notch in their desired fore/aft location.

When locating the center-line of the axle (and thus centerline of the notch) I have found that the original bumpstop's centerline is about as close to the center of the wheel arch as you need to get. I use that as a centerline reference. With that said, here's the tricky part: depending on whatever link system you are using to locate the rear-end, the length of your link bars will follow an arc and thus locate the center-line of the axle in different locations as it goes through its travel. I like to set the axle to where its centerline is centered in the wheel well opening when deflated (if running an adjustable suspension). That way it looks "right" when everybody is taking pictures of it at the show!

It takes some careful measurements, but isn't overly complicated. Just take your time, measure several times before cutting/welding... and several more times before you fully weld them up. I am happy to answer any questions that may arise. I know that a lot of the time it's easier to "talk" someone through a process, rather than "type" the way through it.

Re: Porterbuilt- Weld-in Notch- Free Shippping till March 31st

Nate..... How 'tall' is the actual boxed section of frame? By that I mean just the frame rail & not 'how tall is the notch'. If the question is confusing, call me.
