I think he is refering to rear brakes? ....but my initial thought is no. I would not mix anti-lock parts into a non anti-lock system.

But the 91 had rear drum brakes too.

Mole, personally, i would either use a 71/72 piece, or, stick with your stock distribution valve on the drum/drum set up, and install an adjustable prop valve in the rear line, and then fine tune it all to where it is perfect.

i will heed this sage advice. I looked to be sure and mine has no prop valve at all. I guess with drum/drum it didnt matter. I'll pick up one of the adjustable units.

Thanks all.

I didn't know you could re-use the stock drum/drum proportioning valve when converting to front disc brakes.

I am in the process of finishing my disc brake swap on my '69 and I have a used '71-'72 booster, master cylinder, and stock disc proportioning valve. However the stock drum rear line that would go to the disc proportioning valve isn't even close to where it needs to be.

Re: brake prop valve choice for disc conv on 72 c10

Ford Assassin, look up Classic Performance Products, (CPP). I am running their proportioning valve and it works fine. They also sell refurbished factory proportioning valves, but they cost more than their own product line.

I think you might run into the same problem that you have now, the proportioning valve being too far from your rear brake lines. Would it be feasible to change out the rear brake lines?

Like Longhorn said, you can also run what you have and add an adjustable proportioning valve. I believe Wilwood brakes makes a proven product.

So if I run what I have already, do I bypass the rear line from the block and just run it into the adjustable proportioning valve? Or do I run the proportioning valve before or after the factory drum block?

Re: brake prop valve choice for disc conv on 72 c10

the drum/drum piece is not a proportioning valve at all, just a distribution valve with a pressure switch and warning sensor. A stock 71/72 prop valve would be fine, you may have to rebend/add to/replace the line you are having issues with. If you want to add an adjustable one, I think adding it after the distribution valve would be best, that way the dash warning light isn't triggered.
