Front Grille Support
Hi everyone, i'm a newbie at this forum, been lurking for a while. Lots of good info here, so i thank you all for everything you've shared. I've searched and searched and haven't found much about the grille supports of these trucks. I have a 64 C10 that hit a deer and pretty much destroyed all the front sheetmetal and the one piece i haven't been able to obtain used is the grill support. i can get a 63 or a 62 but can't find a 64. Anyone know the differences? i know the frames are narrower, grills themselves probably mount differently and bumper brackets must be different, but can i make a 63 or 62 work? thanks in advance.

Re: Front Grille Support
I have a 64 GMC and just picked up a NOS grill support. It is off of a 63 Chevy C10. I can make measurements if you want, but I believe its mostly bolt-on.

Re: Front Grille Support
AFAIK, the only difference is the grille mount holes. I've got one from a '60 model that I have thought about using on my '64 b/c it is in alot better shape than the original one.

Re: Front Grille Support
'63-'66 share the same frame................
'60-'62 share the same frame................. any '63-'66 should be bolt on

Re: Front Grille Support
Since were on the subject of grille supports..... How about GMC's through the years? The same grille throughout the years sure..... but how about the Chevy/GMC differences? Just grille mount holes?

Re: Front Grille Support
If you are looking for a new one, then Goodmark Industries sells them. This if from there catalog;
Front Grille Panels New EDP coated steel panels that form the front end of the truck, in front of the radiator support. 58-59 Chevrolet 2nd Series 4141-049-58 $299.95 ea 60-61 Chevrolet C/K . 4142-049-60 $299.95 ea 62 . Chevrolet C/K . 4142-049-62 $299.95 ea 63 . Chevrolet C/K . 4142-049-63 $299.95 ea 64-66 Chevrolet C/K . 4142-049-64 $299.95 ea 67-68 . Chevrolet C/K . 4143-049-67 $299.95 ea The differences are in tw areas. The holes where the headlight mount brackets attach and the notches in the lower center that clear the frame rail. The 63 will work on a 64-66, but you will have to drill new mounting holes for the headlight brackets. Good luck with your build!

Re: Front Grille Support
thanks karl, i know theres a few reproductions out there, but why buy one of those when a decent used one is so much cheaper? i think i can handle redrilling a few holes for the grill as i still have my old one even though its trashed. i've even considered sectioning the bottom off my old one to match the bumper bracket holes but now my buddy has me considering no front bumper and forming the sheetmetal into more of a roll pan. you guys think that would look cool, i haven't really seen any good pics of anyone who's done it yet.
