Looks like it has power windows which would make it a 77-80, unless someone changed them out on an older model.

First you need to decode the VIN.

77, 78 Big 10 and heavier did not have smog or catalitic except in California.

Good luck

its got to be a pre 79 truck, the headlight trim on 79 and 80 trucks surrounds the turn signal, as seen in the pic...

Jeremy is correct. My 79 has the trimaround the front signals. I'm guessing 73-78 with a about the same year engine. The oil dipstick is still on the driver side.

77 or 78, but the vin will give it away.

Not all 79's had the rectangle bezels, some did, some didn't. 79 was the changeover year. The later ones had it (depending on options/trim level), and the earlier ones could have had it depending on the trim level and how late in the run it was made. It is pretty much a hit or miss.

Steve...

Assuming that the brushed aluminum interior trim is original, as is the grille headlight surround, your truck is a '78.

There are no stickers on the door or under the hood?
Pull the ashtray out and read the numbers on the bottom, they are stamped in. The long number is the part number (I think), eitherway it changed from year to year. Also there is a couple other numbers like 12 82. My guess is this ashtray is from Dec. 1982. Thats what was inside my 1983. Also I found an ashtray at the junk yard out of a sub. the numbers were like 02 89 or something. I cant remember, but it was close to the year of the sub (one year early). This may be a easy was of identifing the year of the trucks. Anyone else know anything about this ashtray thing? Check you trucks if you have the og ashtray and try to verify this information, I may be onto something with this, or I could be wayyyy off Its worth a shot!
