Front Pillar Patch
This weekend I removed the hood and fenders on my 69 C/10 longbed. and found that the front door pillar on the drivers side is in really bad shape. I've been looking throught the the vendors websites, and my stack of catalogs at patch panels, and can only find what appear to be a piece that cover the damage, and don't replace it. I've attached a photo of the damage that I found, and what the patches that I'm finding look like. Has anyone had any luck with these patches? Are there any other type patch panels that replace the bad section? Any suggestion will be greatly appreciated. Thanks

Re: Front Pillar Patch
Hey! That is a weld in patch panel, I have used these on my truck. IMO looks like someone in the past done a slapstick job tryin' to repair that. But the panel you have posted is a weld in panel, hope this helps you out. I just cut mine off below the hinge and replaced it.

Re: Front Pillar Patch
Thank for the info craig, the raised part on the patch that looks like it goes over those two bottom bolt heads is what was confusing me. Does anyone have a photo of one of these patches installed? Thanks

Re: Front Pillar Patch
I think you are looking at it wrong.
Looks like it just may be the angle throwing you off. I always assumed they were exact replacements. Well exact in the fact you will have to drill the holes and trim to fit... Very common here, I am sure there will be pics posted soon or try the search feature above. Last edited by Kayotic; 03-02-2009 at 08:20 PM. |

Re: Front Pillar Patch
just make sure on the old pillar there is a little bracket type thing that has the same big hole as the biller and a thing that has two holes in it.. you weld that on the back then drill the holes then you can put a bolt through it to line it up..... here is a board member that has helped me do my truck.. i dont have pics of mine on here yet but he did the same thing as what my truck needed.... hope daren doesnt mind me putting his build on here..
